Providing Value by Re-engineering Workflows

One of the ways in which digital printers can offer value to their customers is by re-engineering a process to improve efficiencies and lower costs. The latest addition to the PODi case study database is an excellent example of this.

Fenner Drives is a leader in the design and manufacture of problem-solving power transmission and motion transfer components. They were originally looking for someone to help them with their kitting and fulfillment of orders for marketing collateral. Although the company had a shipping department dedicated to completing product orders, they did not have the internal resources to respond to requests for marketing materials in a timely manner, sometimes resulting in a two or three week delay.

The process for ordering marketing collateral was also cumbersome. Sales staff used to call the business development department and then business development would call shipping.FennerDrive_Product_Home

After an initial meeting, The Standard Group proposed an online marketing portal that would not only improve the turnaround time for marketing collateral orders, but would also re-engineer their ordering process and organize all current product information.

The online marketing portal is now accessible 24/7 by Fenner Drives’ sales team, distribution partners and manufacturing representatives. With the new portal The Standard Group removed over 125 obsolete literature items and set up an “on demand” library saving on unnecessary printing, warehousing and storage. And orders are filled in a matter of days – not weeks.
