The digital printing market for labels is attracting considerable attention.  Mark Andy, a leader in flexographic printing recently announced their latest entry into the market.  In Caslon’s updated report on high-end digital label presses we tallied 34 presses from 25 manufacturers.  You can get a copy of the report at Digital Label Press Report.

What is interesting about the Mark Andy Digital Series is that it is a hybrid press that has a digital printing engine and flexo printing modules plus Mark Andy’s Quick Change Die Cut (QCDC) station. It can also be configured with many in-line options such as lamination, cold foil and rotary screen. The Digital Series also uses Mark Andy’s ProLED UV curing system.

The Digital Series uses UV inks. It is capable of printing up to six colors (CMYKOV) plus white.

The press runs at 250 feet per minute (76 mpm) and has 600×600 dpi resolution.

The press supports a wide range of label materials ranging from 1 mil to 14 pt. and including P-S paper and film, and unsupported paper and film.

The digital imaging unit can be combined in-line with flexo printing modules for metallic, cold foil, laminating, and rotary screening.  Mark Andy’s Quick Change Die Cut (QCDC) station is an inline finishing option.
